Margo Edgeworth | Life Story Filmmaker

Hi, I'm Margo.

I help families hold onto the people they love.

Because I know what it's like to lose someone before capturing their story. And I'll make sure it doesn't happen to you.

Why This Work Is So Personal to Me

In 2009, I filmed my grandparents as they shared their life stories. They'd written their memories in a book years earlier, but I always believed a video could capture something more…the sparkle in their eyes, the cadence of their laughter, and their hilarious personalities.

That film became a cherished family treasure, breathing life into their stories in a way written words never could.

I always planned to do the same for my mom.

“The doctor said we need to prepare for end of life...”

I still remember the sound of my brother's voice on the other end of the line, heavy with grief. It was one of those moments where you hear something but it doesn’t fully register until later.

Just three days after my mom's gallbladder surgery, we learned she had undiagnosed Stage IV uterine cancer. One day, we expected her to be home, on the road to recovery; the next, we were forced to say goodbye.

By the time I was ready to film her story, it was too late.

Losing her so suddenly taught me how quickly time can slip away. And in the days that followed, I realized something even more profound: no heirloom or photo could replace the sound of her voice or the warmth of her presence.

That's why I started Edgeworth Films.

Because I know what it's like to run out of time. To wish you had one more conversation, one more laugh, one more chance to capture the person you love.

I help families preserve what matters most, before the moments slip away and become nothing more than echoes of memory.

This isn't just filmmaking for me. It's personal. It's purposeful. And it's my privilege.

Why Families Choose to Work With Me

Unlike DIY video or book services that require your parent to write weekly for a year, I handle everything in one relaxed filming session. No tech skills needed. No ongoing homework. Just a meaningful conversation that becomes a cinematic keepsake.

I combine my background in filmmaking, music composition, and graphic design to create films that feel like documentaries, not home videos. Every detail - lighting, sound, editing, & music - is crafted with care.

But more than that? I understand the urgency. I know what it's like to wait too long. And I'll make sure your family doesn't have to live with that regret.

Fast Facts & Fun Favorites

  1. What I eat for breakfast almost every single day: Sourdough toast with butter and a chocolate peanut butter protein shake

  2. Favorite travel destination: Disneyland (because the Peter Pan ride should be an annual requirement) and England (for scones with clotted cream and jam, and pretending I'm in a Jane Austen novel)

  3. Most likely to binge watch: According to my husband, "those dumb British shows"

  4. Someday I want to: Travel to Italy and see where my great-grandparents lived

  5. Favorite Spotify playlist: Musical Theatre, because who doesn't secretly wish life was more like a Broadway show where we break into song at any moment?
